New title sponsor named for 2010 Masters Track Nationals
Richardson Bike Mart will be the title sponsor for the 2010 USA Cycling Masters Track National Championships to be held at the Superdrome Velodrome in Frisco, Texas, September 1-5.
Roster for MTB Marathon Worlds announced
USA Cycling announced today the roster of athletes that will represent the United States at the 20010 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships in St. Wendel, Germany on August 8. Two men and two women are set to compete for the U.S. in the 107-kilometer event later this summer.
Nation's top mountain bikers to ride for national titles this week
Mountain bikers across the nation are gearing up for the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships which return to the Sol Vista Bike Park at Granby Ranch in Colorado. The event, slated for July 15-18, will see over 1,000 off-road racers duke it out on Sol Vistaandrsquo;s world-class terrain for 70 Stars-and-Stripes jerseys across all age divisions in cross country, short track cross country, downhill, super D and four-cross competitions. 2011 and 2012 Marathon MTB Nationals awarded to Bend, Ore.
USA Cycling is pleased to announce that Bend, Ore. will host the 2011 and 2012 Marathon Mountain Bike National Championships. The annual event, which crowns 24 national champions in marathon mountain biking, has been held in conjunction with the Firecracker 50 in Breckenridge, Colo. for the past four years. Its move to Bend for 2011 and 2012 will mark the seventh and eighth USA Cycling National Championship event held in the cycling-friendsly city in a four-year period.
DEVELOPMENT WRAP-UP: Ladies shine for USAC development programs
USA Cycling saw its women's development initiatives pay off over the weekend as Mara Abbott grabbed the overall classification at the Giro Donne stage race. The national governing body continued its women's development initiatives in BMX last week as well, hosting up-and-coming women at a world championships prep camp in California.
NRC overall leaders extend advantages at Grand Cycling Classic
Luis Amaran of Cuba and Cath Cheatley of New Zealand widened their leads in the 2010 USA Cycling National Racing Calendar overall standings following this weekend's races in Grand Rapids, Mich. Patrick Bevin and Joanne Kiesanowski, both of New Zealand, won the men's and women's individual races at the the Grand Cycling Classic. The NRC continues July 17 with the Boise Twilight Criterium.
Five more national titles awarded as Junior Track Nationals close
The final five national titles were awarded in Trexlertown on Sunday as the 2010 USA Cycling Juniors Track National Championships came to a close. Champions were crowned in the menandrsquo;s and womenandrsquo;s 17-18 team sprints, the Madison, and the menandrsquo;s and womenandrsquo;s 15-16 overall omniums.
Mara Abbott 1st American to win overall Giro Donne
Mara Abbott riding for the USA Cycling Women's National Development Program, won the overall Giro Donne today in Italy. The 25-year-old soloed to wins in stages 8 and 9 and finished in the main pack in Sunday's final stage 10 to win the raceandrsquo;s general classification. The team exercised its strategy perfectly, defending Abbott's pink leaderandrsquo;s jersey while her fellow USA Cycling and Peanut Butter andamp; Co TWENTY 12 teammate Shelley Evans took the sprint victory in the final stage on Sunday.
Nine titles awarded on penultimate day of Juniors Track Nationals
After inclement weather forced the morning session to be delayed until afternoon, day three of the USA Cycling Juniors Track National Championships was a busy one. Nine national titles were awarded on the penultimate day as riders in the 17-18 age category continued to heat up the track, and the 10-12 and 13-14 groups completed their overall omniums.
Rivera, Tomlinson, Baranoski all claim titles on day 2 in T-town
Four more national titles were awarded on day two of the USA Cycling Junior Track National Championships in Trexlertown.Coryn Rivera claimed her 30th and 31st junior national titles while John Tomlinson and Matthew Baranoski rode into Stars-and-Stripes jerseys in menandrsquo;s competition. The younger categories of juniors also continued their quests for the overall omniums by contesting their scratch races.

Day one of Junior Track Nationals crowns four champs in T-town
Four national titles were awarded on Thursday as the 2010 USA Cycling Juniors Track National Championships opened at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Trexlertown, Pa. Coryn Rivera, Lawson Craddock, Benny Swedberg, and Christine Barron all rode into Stars-and-Stripes jerseys on a very hot day that saw temperatures reach 98 degrees.
Pro XCT finale CTS Intl. Classic in Colorado Springs this weekend
The final round of the USA Cycling Pro Cross Country Tour (Pro XCT) is headed to Colorado Springs this weekend. The nationandrsquo;s top professional cross country riders will battle for the Pro XCT title at the Carmichael Training Systems International Classic at Cheyenne Mountain State Park, July 9-11.
Junior Track Nationals get underway in T-town on Thursday
Over 200 young cyclists, between the ages of 10 and 18, are set to converge on the Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Trexlertown, Pa., July 8-11, for the USA Cycling Juniors Track National Championships. In addition to the 24 Stars-and-Stripes jerseys that will be up for grabs, start spots for the 2010 UCI Juniors Track World Championships will also be on the line in T-town.
DEVELOPMENT WRAP-UP: Riders busy on the pavement and the dirt
USA Cycling's development programs are keeping young athletes busy, both on the pavement and the dirt. On the road, Shelley Evans rode her way onto the Giro Donne podium in Italy with a third-place effort in stage four. Her teammate, Mara Abbott posted fourth-place in stage five as the race continues through July 11. As part of a European mountain bike camp, five Americans entered the Swiss Racer Bikes Cup cross country event in Switzerland over the weekend with Lydia Tanner posting the top result for the U.S. with a 20th-place finish.
Cheatley takes women's overall NRC lead after Fitchburg Longsjo
After her win at the Fitchburg Longsjo Classic Cath Cheatley jumped from sixth place to first in USA Cycling's National Racing Calendar women's individual overall standings. Luis Amaran maintained his lead in the men's overall standings following the NRC's 15th event . The NRC will continue Saturday with the Meijer Grand Cycling Classic in Grand Rapids, Mich.
JHK, Irmiger successfully defend Marathon MTB National titles
Hundreds of ultra-endurance mountain bikers converged on Breckenridge, Colo. for the Fourth of July to compete for 14 national titles at the USA Cycling Marathon Mountain Bike National Championships held in conjunction with the 10th annual Firecracker 50. The husband and wife duo of Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski and Heather Irmiger successfully defended their titles from a year ago in the pro/open categories. Twelve other categories also duked it out on the dusty course for Stars-and-Stripes jerseys.
BMX World Championships squad named
USA Cycling announced today the 11 elite riders it will send to represent the United States at the 2010 UCI BMX World Championships in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, July 29 andndash; August 1. 2009 world champion Donny Robinson will lead the U.S. squad as he looks to collect his third elite world title on the supercross track in Pietermaritzburg.

Ultra-endurance riders to race for national titles on 4th of July
Fourteen Stars-and-Stripes jerseys will be awarded over the Fourth of July weekend as the USA Cycling Marathon Mountain Bike National Championships are held in conjunction with the Firecracker 50 in beautiful Breckenridge, Colo. A maxed out field of 750 will lead the town's Fourth of July parade down Main Street before taking to the 50-mile course where husband and wife duo, Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski and Heather Irmiger, will race two laps of a 25-mile loop in hopes of defending their titles in the pro contests.
American cyclists on the attack in the 2010 Tour de France
This yearandrsquo;s Tour de France welcomes the most U.S.-based teams and among the most American racers in the 97-year-history of cyclingandrsquo;s pinnacle event. Four teams andndash; RadioShack, BMC, Garmin-Transitions and HTC-Columbia andndash; all call the United States home, the highest representation of any one nation at the 2010 Tour de France other than France, which also boasts four teams. At the same time, the interest in racing in the United States has risen year after year. So far in 2010, racing licenses registered through USA Cycling are up 7 percent. This is in addition to a 5.6 percent rise last year and a huge increase during the last decade, with USA Cycling membership growing 56 percent from 42,724 racers in 2002 to 66,800 racers in 2009.
