Pro GRT continues this weekend with Crankworx Colorado

The 2010 USA Cycling Professional Mountain Bike Gravity Tour (Pro GRT) makes its way to the Rocky Mountains this weekend with a stop at Winter Park Resort's Trestle Bike Park, July 29-August 1. The Colorado event is the fourth of five international-grade downhill events on the Pro GRT. Winter Park will host many of the world's top riders as they look to gain points in the season-long series.

BMX Worlds begins with multiple American medals

BMX World Championships kick-off on Thursday

The worldandrsquo;s best BMX athletes converge on Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, this week for the 2010 UCI BMX World Championships (July 29th andndash; August 1st). In total, 1,100 riders from 37 countries will fight it out in the Elite and age-group competitions, including over 80 Americans.

Abbott, Sutherland win at Cascade Cycling Classic, move up in NRC

Mara Abbott and Rory Sutherland won the women's and men's general classifications at the Cascade Cycling Classic last week in Bend, Ore. Abbott's victory moved her into third place overall in the 2010 USA Cycling National Racing Calendar women's overall standings, while Sutherland took over the No. 2 spot on the men's side. The men's NRC continues this weekend with the Tour of Elk Grove.

USA Cycling to host national championships sprint preparation camp

USA Cycling is pleased to announce an opportunity for elite and junior track athletes to attend a FREE sprint camp with new Sprint Program Director, Jamie Staff, in preparation for the USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships. The camp will take place at the ADT Event Center Velodrome in Carson, Calif., September 13-28 with the two main goals being to educate riders on race preparation and to identify up-and-coming talent on the track.

Cycling athlete, Blanco receives suspension for doping violation

USADA announced today that the independent American Arbitration Association/Court of Arbitration for Sport (AAA/CAS) has issued a written decision that Alberto Blanco, an athlete in the sport of cycling, committed a doping violation and will receive a two-year suspension for the offense.

USA Cycling's development programs are in full swing on the road. Riding for USA Cycling's Women's Development Team, Kendall Ryan was sevent in Italy's GP Cento over the weekend. As a member of the national governing body's U23 Development Program squad, Larry Warbasse posted an impressive 39th-place out of the 145 riders entered int he De Drie Zustersteden. The juniors are staying busy as well with USA Cycling's Junior Development Program squad joining thirteen other American teams for the LE Tour de l'Abitibit in Canada this week.

Todd Wells and Georgia Gould secured the men's and women's overall titles in the USA Cycling Professional Mountain Bike Cross Country Tour (Pro XCT) during the Sand Creek International Classic in Colorado Springs. Wells and Gould both traveled to Granby, Colo., the following week and won Stars-and-Stripes jerseys at the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships.

Luis Amaran finished 45th in Boise, but he was able to maintain his advantage over Scott Zwizanski, who did not enter the event and remained second in the men's individual NRC overall standings. In the team competition, Amaran's Jamis Sutter Home-Colavita squad remained in the lead. The NRC will continue with men's and women's races Tuesday-Sunday as Bend, Ore., hosts the Cascade Classic.

The 2010 USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships continued at the SolVista Bike Park at Granby Ranch on Saturday with the pro cross country and four-cross competitions taking center stage. Georgia Gould and Todd Wells dominated the pro cross country fields to take the wins on a hot and dusty course. In the action-paced pro four-cross contests, it was Ross Milan and Neven Steinmetz to grab the national titles.

Fourteen Stars-and-Stripes jerseys were awarded at the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships on Friday as cross-country racing kicked off bright and early at the SolVista Bike Park. Following a heated day of endurance racing, the evening closed out on the four-cross course with the event's first gravity contests. The winners of the men's and women's U23 and junior 17-18 cross country events not only earned national titles, but also automatic nominations to represent the U.S. at the Mountain Bike World Championships in Quebec later this summer.

Action got underway at the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships on Thursday as category 2 and 3 racers took to the cross country course at the SolVista Bike Park at Granby Ranch. Twenty gold medals were awarded to riders in the category 2 and 3 non-national championships fields over the course of the day.
