Masters Road Nationals end with 11 more champs crowned on Sunday

The 2010 USA Cycling Masters National Championships came to a close on Sunday with the final criteriums in downtwon Jeffersonville, Ind. Eleven new national champions rode off with Stars-and-Stripes jerseys after another hot, action-packed day of racing.

Williams receives extension of sanction

USADA announced today that cycling athlete Kenny Williams of Kenmore, Washington has committed a violation by competing during his two-year period of ineligibility received for a 2009 doping offense and has accepted an extension of his ineligibility period for the violation.

Rivera wins road race bronze; Junior men world overall number 1

Coryn Rivera earned her first world championship medal, winning the bronze in the womenandrsquo;s road race at the UCI Junior World Championships Sunday in Italy. The medal is the second of these world championships for the young Americans after Lawson Craddock earned the bronze in the menandrsquo;s time trial on Friday. Craddock led the U.S. junior men, who were awarded the trophy as the overall top-ranked country in the season-long Junior Nationsandrsquo; Cup, in the road race with a 14th place finish.

Lakatosh and Massie win Tandem Track Sprint Nationals

Three more national champions were crowned in Louisville on a beautiful Friday as the road racing portion of the 2010 USA Cycling Masters Road National Championships wrapped up in Cherokee Park. Riding into Stars-and-Stripes jerseys were Michael Olhesier, Roger Aspholm, and Cale Reeder.

Craddock lands bronze at Jr Worlds Time Trial; Rivera takes 10th

Lawson Craddock (Houston, Texas/Hot Tubes) reached the podium of the UCI Junior Road World Championships for the second year in a row, finishing third in Offida, Italy, on Friday in the time trial. On the women's side, Coryn Rivera (Tustin, Calif./Peanut Butter andamp; Co TWENTY 12) finished 10th.

After Wednesday became the hottest day Louisville had seen in 80 years, Thursday's cooler, wetter weather was very much welcomed by competitors and spectators alike on day three of the USA Cycling Masters Road National Championships. Fourteen national titles were awarded in Cherokee Park as the women and tandem pairs took to the road race course.

Quiznos Pro Challenge brings international racing back to Colorado

In front of hundreds of spectators and cycling fans, USA Cycling CEO Steve Johnson joined Lance Armstrong and Colorado Governor Bill Ritter to announce the inaugural Quiznos Pro Challenge. The seven-day stage race will travel through Colorado in August, 2011, and attract some of the world's top cyclists.

Eight national champions were crowned in the road races on day two of the USA Cycling Masters Road National Championships as temperatures reached 101 degrees in Louisville's Cherokee Park. Wednesday featured racing in the men's 30-34, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+ categories.

Kintner extends Pro GRT lead, Smith into 5th after Crankworx

USA Cycling continued its 2010 Pro Mountain Bike Gravity Tour (Pro GRT) last weekend with the Crankworx Colorado event at Trestle Bike Park in Winterpark, Colo., the penultimate race in the 2010 series. Jill Kintner came away with the win in the women's downhill to increase her overall lead while Waylon Smith used his victory to move into the Pro GRT's top five. The nation's premier gravity mountain bike series will wrap-up Sept. 10-12 at Whiteface Mountain Bike Park in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Amaran leads men's NRC; Cantwell cashes in at Elk Grove

Luis Amaran of Cuba continues to lead the men's individual standings in the 2010 USA Cycling National Racing Calendar following his eighth-place finish in the Alexian Brothers Tour of Elk Grove. Jonathan Cantwell of Australia won the race in Illinois, earning the largest payout of any three-day men's stage race in the world. The NRC continues Saturday with men's and women's races in Charlotte, N.C.

Compton finishes fourth at Val di Sole UCI World Cup #8

Katie Compton finished fourth in the elite women's cross country competition at the latest UCI Mountain Bike World Cup event in Val di Sole, Italy. Compton was one of five riders in the top 20 from the United States, the top-ranked country in the world in women's mountain biking. The World Cup concludes on American soil Aug. 28-29 in Windham, N.Y.

BMX Worlds wrap up Sunday with six U.S. medals in Cruiser Class

The UCI BMX World Championships wrapped up on Sunday with the United States grabbing six more medals, this time in the Cruiser Classes. The six medals earned the Americans the victory in the Cruiser medal count ahead of Australia and the Netherlands.

Nine Challenge Class medals to U.S. after 2 days of BMX Worlds

Four more medals will be coming home to the United States after day two of the UCI BMX World championships in South Africa. Fifteen-year-old Felicia Stancil dominated her Challenge Class division to earn a world title as did Nathan Padilla in the 16-year-old boys division. With amateur class competitions complete, attention will now turn to the junior and elite superstars as they compete for the title of world champion on Saturday.

USA Cycling elections half over-- Cast your ballot before Aug. 15!
